What is the problem?
Ukrainian and Russian forces are massively using FPV drones in combat, which has dramatically changed the modern warfare.
The successful use of one or more cheap drones can destroy equipment worth millions of dollars, which is evidenced by many videos of the combat use of such drones at the front.
These drones are disposable, and given the amount of enemy equipment and forces, Ukrainian troops need to have thousands of them.
The FPV drone is an effective weapon. The more such drones the Ukrainian military has, the more enemy dugouts will be dismantled, equipment destroyed, and manpower killed.
What is the solution?
Ukrainian volunteer engineers have developed an FPV control station for the military.
How does it work?
One of these stations was manufactured for the soldiers of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
A step towards diversification and independence from external supplies, said Ukrainian soldier Illia Krotenko.
These stations are being built by a team of engineers from "The Dronarnya" initiative.
The soldier said that he was raising 25,000 hryvnias to buy components for a ground control station for FPV drones.
These funds paid for special antennas, a mast, a monitor, video and radio receivers.
The ground station is designed to enhance communication with the drone and ensure the safety of the drone operator during piloting.
The basic cost of manufacturing an RTF ground station is $2,300. It contains everything you need to work, the Drone Factory project website says.
"The Dronarnya" project has been operating as an RnD center since the beginning of the active phase of Russia's war and focuses on the development and implementation of new technologies in the field of unmanned aerial systems.
The initiative has been developing, assembling, repairing, servicing UAVs, FPV drones, and mass-producing tactical-level attack UAVs for a year.
Over the year of the laboratory's operation, we have manufactured more than 1500 products for various purposes, trained 30+ groups of military personnel in UAV piloting, and are constantly working on new technical solutions, the volunteers said.
On August 2, the ex Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that the Ministry was putting the tenth model of FPV drone into operation for the Ukrainian forces.
Reznikov added that in 15 months, the Ministry has commissioned more than 30 models of various types of drones, namely reconnaissance, attack drones, kamikaze drones, and ammunition barrage drones.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense for the first time approved several new models of drones for the Ukrainian military under a simplified procedure.
