Great Britain and other allies will provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems and demining equipment, the press service of the AFU General Staff reported on Facebook.

What is the problem?

Russia has been conducting air attacks on different regions with varying intensity for over 20 months.

Ukrainian air defense can shoot down almost all of the launched targets, however it doesn't have enough capabilities to destroy ballistic and hypersonic missiles.

The day before, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, during an online speech at a meeting of the board of the European Commission, stressed that the strength of the air defense of Ukraine is a guarantee for neighbors that the terror will not cross the borders of the EU.

What is the solution?

The British Defense Minister Grant Shapps announced unwavering support for Ukraine and its most urgent needs.

I am proud to announce that the United Kingdom, together with our allies, is fulfilling this promise by signing new contracts to provide Ukraine with critical air defense systems to protect civilians from Putin's barbaric bombing campaign, Shapps said.

The British defense added that they will allocate more than 100 million pounds for new equipment promised "to give Ukrainian soldiers what they need to break through Russia's deadly minefields."

How does it work?

The UK will provide important equipment to assist Ukrainian soldiers in overcoming minefields,
bridge facilities to assist in river and trench crossings, heavy vehicles to destroy Russian non-explosive obstacles, and create defensive positions to protect the critical national infrastructure of Ukraine.

This new support package is the latest in an unprecedented and sustained effort by 50 countries to provide Ukraine with the tools it needs to counter Russian aggression and recover what it has lost.

The UK has developed a training program for Ukrainian engineers to learn how to protect the energy sector from Russian attacks ahead of winter, as damage and destruction by Russian missile and drone attacks represent one of the greatest threats to the lives and safety of Ukrainian civilians.
