Two Ukrainian children died in Gaza Strip following rocket attack

On Tuesday, October 24, two Ukrainian children were killed by rocket fire in the Gaza Strip.

The representative of the Ukrainian community, who is currently in the Gaza Strip, confirmed the information about the death of the children, Rubryka reports.

The head of the branch of the Ukrainian embassy under the Palestinian National Administration Maksym Tiokin said in a comment to Suspilne that the two children were a brother and sister aged 9 and 6. Their mother, who survived, is Ukrainian, originally from Kharkiv.

According to the Hamas-controlled local Ministry of Health, more than 700 people died in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesperson, Oleh Nikolenko, said in a comment to Hromadske, also confirmed the death of two Ukrainian children born in 2014 and 2017 in the Gaza Strip. Their identities have been established.

"We sympathize with the parents. The representative office of Ukraine in the city of Ramallah is investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy and is in contact with the relatives," he added.

According to Suspilne, no agreements have been reached at the moment on the opening of the Rafah point, through which foreigners were to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip.

Ukraine is currently working with its partners on the evacuation of its citizens from both Israel and the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, the situation with leaving Gaza is more complicated. The only border crossing between Gaza and Egypt still remains closed. Ukraine, Moldova and Romania agreed to join efforts to evacuate citizens from there. Almost 340 citizens of Ukraine agreed to evacuate.

Almost 340 Ukrainians agreed to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the real number of Ukrainian citizens who remain in this region is about 500.

On October 14, the first evacuation plane with Ukrainians on board took off from Tel Aviv to Bucharest. There were 207 citizens of Ukraine on board, including 63 children.

On October 16, a second evacuation flight with 155 citizens, including 107 women and 23 children, departed from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on a HiSky flight to the Romanian city of Cluj.

As of October 18, 23 Ukrainians were killed due to terrorist attacks by the Hamas group in Israel.

The fourth evacuation flight with 79 Ukrainian citizens left Tel Aviv for Bucharest, Romania. It is reported that the plane took off from Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) on October 19 at 22:30 local time.
