Solutions to win: Lviv volunteers deliver more bulletproof vests to medics in front-line areas
The Lviv Defense Cluster delivered specialized anti-fragile body armor for medics of front-line hospitals.
What is the problem?
Front-line doctors are fighting for the lives of Ukrainian citizens, working selflessly in extremely difficult conditions. They also need to protect their own lives to continue helping others.
Modern combat and security realities require a progressive approach and a wide range of personal protective gear. One of the most important is a bulletproof vest, designed to protect against injuries by firearms, cold weapons, or fragments of explosive devices. The product is made of special materials. Ballistic layers destroy bullets and disperse energy from impacts, preventing injury.
What is the solution?
The Lviv Defense Cluster went on a humanitarian mission to deliver a hundred specialized vests for medics of front-line hospitals.
How does it work?
"100 bulletproof vests to the doctors of Sumy region! The Lviv Defense Cluster team delivered another batch of bulletproof vests to the doctors," the report said.
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Lieutenant General Volodymyr Artiukh — a military man with over 30 years of service experience — joined the initiative.
The bulletproof vests will be given to the border communities of the Sumy region: Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia, Nova Sloboda, and Khotyn.
The vest will contribute to safer conditions for medical workers who are involved in the evacuation from the front-line zone and the provision of emergency aid to people who have come under Russsian fire.
"Within the current humanitarian mission, we will hand over another 640 medical bulletproof. Yesterday, the Department of Health Protection in Chernihiv received the body armor. Today, it's Sumy. Next is Kherson," the NGO added.
The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported on Facebook that the medics of the region received bulletproof vests.
"Medical facilities of the Kherson region received 440 body armor vests. The aid was provided by the NGO Lviv Defense Cluster and the Helping Lviv Defense Cluster Charity Fund," the statement said.
Protective gear was distributed to reception departments, emergency, and primary care.
The Lviv Defense Cluster has already handed over 3,200 body armor to civilian medics in the frontline regions.
Background
A new volunteer project — the Lviv Defense Cluster — was formed in Lviv from the first days of the full-scale war. Specialists, business people, volunteers, and donors united to give Ukrainians good bulletproof vests for free.
Currently, bulletproof vests from Lviv are given not only to defenders but also to emergency services, journalists, doctors, utility workers, and police officers to evacuate children.
Rubryka previously reported that the Lviv Defense Cluster, Run Ukraine, and the ProBig running club initiated an international charity online run to raise funds for bulletproof vests.
Participants from 29 countries joined the "Run for 100,000 bulletproof vests" charity online event.
Rubryka also reported that bulletproof vests for children began to be produced in Ukraine. They will be used for evacuation.
