Melitopol's Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported that on Telegram.
Due to the actions of local partisans during the "night hunt," the Russian invaders who were engaged in looting were eliminated.
He specified that the explosion occurred in the area of Aviamistechko at the time of loading looted goods into the car.
"According to the specified information, the night explosion in Melitopol is minus the car with the marauding occupiers," Fedorov said.
The mayor also mentioned that these intruders have repeatedly targeted and burglarized unoccupied apartments in Melitopol.
"At that time, our resistance forces were tracking the occupiers," he said.
Fedorov also published a video from the scene on the Internet.
Earlier, it was reported that in Melitopol, which is temporarily under the control of the Russian troops, residents heard explosions and the rumble of equipment closer to the morning. It happened in the area of Aviamistechko, where the occupiers set up their military base on the captured airfield.
For reference:
In February 2022, Melitopol fell under Russian control during the invasion of Ukraine. Despite being considered just a logistical base, the city is still regularly rocked by explosions targeting enemy soldiers and equipment.
On Monday, October 16, explosions were heard in the area of the temporarily captured Melitopol of the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian troops located their bases and training grounds in this place.
The explosion in Melitopol was also reported on October 13. In the morning, an explosion rang out in the Kryvorizkyi district of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Later, it became known that this was a successful operation of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine. Special forces cut off the occupiers from the supply of fuel and ammunition.
On the morning of September 19, the Ukrainian military attacked the Russian invaders' headquarters in the occupied Melitopol area in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Melitopol is now under occupation, and the occupants exert their authority by requiring residents to obtain Russian passports. Without this document, they are denied access to hospitals. Furthermore, women are being abducted, and families are being detained for suspicion of aiding Ukraine's armed forces. Additionally, the Russians are preparing to manufacture unmanned aerial vehicles for use in the war, with even children involved in the production process.
In addition, the invaders organized a "hunt" for men. There were more patrols in the city. Men are stopped, and documents and phones are checked.
The occupiers are also looking for partisans in Melitopol. Video surveillance cameras have been hung, and residents are also being kidnapped for "help" in the search.
Only in May, the invaders took away and are still holding at least ten peaceful residents of Melitopol, including journalist Iryna Levchenko and her husband Oleksandr.
"Kidnapping of civilians, detention by illegal security forces, torture to force them to confess to non-existent crimes, deportation – Russia must be held accountable for these crimes before the international community," the city's mayor, Fedorov, stressed.
