UN has funded restoration of 2,200 war-damaged houses in Kyiv region

The UN Refugee Agency has repaired more than 2,200 private homes in the Kyiv region, one of the most affected areas during the full-scale war.

What is the problem?

The Kyiv region is one of the most affected by the full-scale war, having over 28,000 buildings destroyed during the hostilities, including over 24,000 residential houses.

Almost 4,500 private and multi-story buildings were completely destroyed.

What is the solution?

The UN and its NGO partners were the first to support the regional authorities in addressing the needs of people in the war-torn communities.

Working closely with the Kyiv Regional State Administration, UNHCR is helping to rebuild damaged housing by replacing roofs, windows, walls, and infrastructure.

How does it work?

UNHCR has provided emergency shelter kits to 8,865 people for urgent repairs in the region so far.

The Agency installed 71 modular houses provided by Denmark and 99 modular houses from the Ukrainian manufacturer QHome for families whose houses were completely destroyed.

The efforts helped 6,500 people return to their homes to get a life from a fresh start.

Cooperation with foreign partners is carried out within the framework of the Regional Office for International Cooperation (ROC) work in the Kyiv region.
