Kyiv architects present shelter made with 3D printing technology
Ukrainian architects from the MAKHNO Studio presented the concept of stop-storage made with 3D printing.
This was unveiled at the all-Ukrainian architectural and construction forum as part of a panel with government representatives.
What is the problem?
The architecture-related MAKHNO Studio, the Charitable Foundation "Embrace of the Nation," and the company-developer "3D technology UTU" created the project of the first stop-shelter that will protect citizens from debris during possible attacks.
This is about safety, because the most vulnerable people remain on the street and on the roads, where there are no shelters, subways or any available shelters. The storage stop will open automatically during an alarm (we plan to install a smart system there) and will serve as a reliable shelter from debris, the press release says.
What is the solution?
The project of the first serial stop is carried out using 3D printing to quickly and easily scale it throughout Ukraine.
Unlike other shelters, our stop perfectly complements and decorates the urban landscape without being associated with war. The smoothness of the forms together with the brutalist image convey a sense of security and reliability, the press service said.
The smart system will ensure the storage opens during an air raid alert.
How does it work?
3D technology allows developers to print such a stop quickly, which is extremely important for the war reality.
The project is undergoing stability checks, and the team of distributors is looking for the perfect strength-cost ratio. After completing the preparatory stage, MAKHNO Studio will present the final draft of the stop-shelter with an understanding of its cost, production time, and possible options.
