Ukraine showcases over 500 books at Frankfurt Book Fair
The Ukrainian stand at the 75th Frankfurt Book Fair features 500 books from 43 publishers.
The press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported this.
"More than 500 books from 43 publishing houses are presented at the Ukrainian stand. Negotiations on the sale of rights to Ukrainian books will take place here. The program of events will bring together famous Ukrainian authors, translators, and intellectuals," the message says.
It is noted that the work of the Ukrainian stand was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Germany, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany, and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Frankfurt.
Within the framework of cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media of Germany, there will be a program called Fragility of Creators, which the Ukrainian Book Institute and the Goethe-Institut curate.
The stand will feature a dedicated stage for daily events in both English and German during the fair.
"As part of cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media of Germany, there will be programs where we will talk about what hurts us the most. In particular, about the concept of our participation – the fragility of existence. War not only takes lives but also destroys everything around us, and, in particular, is reflected in literature. More than 30 writers have already died from Russian weapons, and more than 80 writers are now on the front lines defending Ukraine," said the deputy director of the Ukrainian Institute of Books, Olena Odynoka, at the official opening of the Ukrainian stand.
The department mentioned that in addition to discussions about the current situation in Ukraine, visitors will learn about Ukrainian culture, book design, and book art.
Among the authors and guests are Iryna Tsilyk, Maksym Yakovlev, Kateryna Mikhalytsyna, Anna Novosad, Yulia Kozlovets, Alyona Karavai, Vakhtang Kebuladze, Svitlana Oslavska, Oksana Zabuzhko, Yaryna Chornohuz and many others.
