KUST Media unveils interactive platform connecting Ukrainian women in need to vital support

Ukrainian media outlet KUST created a support platform for women in need.

From now on, Ukrainian women who need free shelter, humanitarian aid, and legal and psychological counseling can use the interactive help map for women, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

Since the start of the Russian invasion, women and children have been more vulnerable to life challenges than ever before. Many had to flee their hometowns, as many lost their jobs or housing.

Ukraine is home to many organizations that help women in difficult situations: women with many children, displaced women, victims of gender-based violence, and homeless people.

Specialized organizations are helping the LGBTQI+ community and active women, the military, teenagers, and young people. Others are medically oriented, for example, associations of people with disabilities or support for women with HIV.

All these organizations work separately, so people in need have to seek information about them separately as well.

What is the solution?

Media workers from KUST analyzed organizations and initiatives that provide assistance to women, contacted their representatives, and collected all information on one web platform.

The organization hopes that this way, women can quickly find the exact support they need.

How does it work?

The map includes organizations from all Ukrainian regions that are focused on helping women.

To use the map, find the region and the required type of assistance, click on the organization's name, read all the information about it, find contacts, contact, and get help.

The developers also noted that many organizations, although focused on their region, are ready to help people from other regions if necessary, like shelters in the western part of Ukraine, which usually receive people from all regions during the war.

The project team advises the users to find the organization that they like and contact public figures using the info at the bottom of the organization's description.

A woman in need can get clothes and hygiene items, attend workshops, receive training, mentoring, and consultations with psychologists, lawyers, etc.

Currently, 73 geotags have been added to the map, except for occupied territories. All-Ukrainian organizations are included in the city of Kyiv in the location to ease the search.

The developers plan to add more NGOs to the map in the future.

Rubryka reports that gender-based violence against women and girls in both private and public places is exacerbated during large-scale conflicts.
