Russian forces launch rocket attack at housing area near Dnipro

On Wednesday morning, October 18, Russian troops attacked the housing area near the central city of Dnipro district with rockets

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov announced there were civilian casualties, Rubryka reports.

The head of the city added that losses included both killed and injured and urged not to share photos and videos from the scene on social media and wait for details from the military-civilian administration.

Later, the head of the regional military administration reported three injured and one killed person in the Dnipro area and at least six damaged houses.

The head of the Office of the President, Andrii Yermak, later revealed that the Russian forces attacked private houses in the village of Obukhivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, killing a 31-year-old woman.

The attack on Obukhivka injured four people and ruined eight private houses in the residential sector. Rescuers, police officers, and medics are working at the scene, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported.

Earlier, Rubryka reported that on Wednesday morning, October 18, explosions rang out in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. An air alert was announced in the east and southeast of Ukraine.

What we know about Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia

Since the start of the full-scale war in February last year, part of the Zaporizhzhia region has been under Russian occupation. The captured territories include the ones along the coast of the Sea of Azov and the ones surrounding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and major cities like Enerhodar, Berdiansk, and Melitopol.

The occupying forces often shell and bomb Zaporizhzhia, often using ballistic missiles or converted munitions from S-300 anti-aircraft systems.

On Wednesday night, October 18, explosions rocked the city again, after which an air raid alert was announced in the region. Six Russian rockets attacked the city.

Before that, on the night of October 15, the Russian forces hit Zaporizhzhia with three S-300 missiles, later attacking the city with another missile in the afternoon.

On September 30, the Russian forces hit the territory of the Matviivka community near Zaporizhzhia with rockets, leading to casualties and destruction.
