Russian forces launch rocket and drone attacks on Ukraine's Poltava and Dnipro regions
On Monday night, Russian rockets and drones attacked Ukraine's central Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Rubryka reports, citing the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, that the Poltava region was struck by rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles. The sounds of explosions were reported in the Myrhorod area.
"Fortunately, there were no hits to civilian or critical infrastructure. However, several private houses were damaged by the debris from the downed rocket," Pronin said. "According to initial data, three people were injured, including a ten-year-old child. All were taken to the hospital."
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, reported that one rocket was downed by Ukrainian air defense from the East Air Command. Another missile hit near Dnipro City.
By night, the Russian forces shelled the Nikopol district using heavy artillery and Grad MLRS.
"In Nikopol, two shops, a cafe, a private business, a religious institution, a transport facility, and a square were damaged," the head of the region said. "A five-story building, three private houses, an outbuilding, a car, and a transport stop were also damaged."
The shelling damaged a gas pipeline and four power lines, leaving almost one and a half thousand families without electricity.
Also, two houses, a religious building, and power grids were damaged in the Marhanets community. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
A series of explosions also rocked Dnipro City. Official information about the causes and consequences of the explosions has not yet been reported.
Night attack on Ukraine
On Monday night, October 16, Russian troops launched a combined attack using strike drones and missiles in several regions of Ukraine. An air alert was declared in many areas.
During the air raid, the sounds of explosions were reported in Dnipro, Kirovohrad, and Poltava regions.
The explosions were also heard in the Khmelnytskyi region. Later, the mayor of Khmelnytskyi said that Ukrainian air defense forces were activated in the area. Official sources have not yet reported the causes and consequences of the explosions.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Russians used strike drones, Kh-59 cruise missiles, and Iskander-M ballistic missiles during the attack.
