Russian military bases and training grounds near occupied Melitopol under attack

On Monday, explosions rocked Russian bases and training grounds near the occupied Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region. 

Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said that residents of the city and surrounding villages report explosions in the south — from the side of the Molochnyi Estuary, Rubryka reports.

He added that "it is loud for the occupiers of Melitopol not only from thunderstorms."

According to Fedorov, the Russians have set up military bases and training grounds in that location to train future "cannon fodder."

"First they learn, then they lose," said the city mayor.

Situation in occupied Melitopol

Melitopol was occupied in February 2022 at the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite its "rear rank," the city is constantly rocked by explosions at the locations where Russian troops and equipment are stationed.

The explosion in Melitopol was reported on October 13. Later, it was reported that it was a successful operation by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces. Special forces cut off the occupiers from the supply of fuel and ammunition.

On the morning of September 19, the Ukrainian military attacked the Russian headquarters in the occupied Melitopol.

During their city occupation, the Russians abducted women and detained entire families for allegedly helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russians are also planning to start producing drones for war in the occupied territory of Ukraine, even involving child labor.
