Solutions to win: Ternopil marathon raises ₴ 275,000 for Ukrainian army

On October 15, the first charity run took place in Ternopil in several years.

Over 600 runners from various parts of Ukraine, including military personnel, representatives of running clubs in Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, and Chernihiv, as well as Olympic athletes and corporate teams, came together to participate in the sports initiative.

The press service of the "MHP-Hromadi" Charitable Foundation reported this.

What is the problem?

The main goal of the race is to support the military. Five years ago, the 105th Territorial Defense Brigade was formed in the Ternopil region.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, thousands of volunteers have joined it. Since then, defenders have been defending the borders of the Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. Now, the brigade needs special military equipment to carry out its combat tasks. To help them with this, our foundation and partners organized this "Faynozabih" [running marathon – ed.]," Iryna Semko, head of the social development group of the "MHP – Hromadi" Charitable Foundation, says.

What is the solution?

The "MHP-Hromadi" Charitable Foundation and the ShypShyna Run Club organized the half-marathon. Also, the event was held with the support of the Ternopil City Council, the Ternopil Regional State Administration, and the HOPE.UA Charitable Club.

The participants were from all regions of Ukraine. Among the winners at different distances and in different age categories were representatives of Odesa, Mukachevo, Uzhgorod, Chernihiv, Lviv, Mariupol, Sieverodonetsk, Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Kalush and other cities. Military personnel from the 105th Brigade, for which funds were collected, and professional athletes took part. Yes, Olympic athlete, track and field athlete, and bronze medalist of the European Championship Olha Nyzhnyk was present. In 2012, she participated in the Olympic Games in London, where she took 20th place.

How does this solution work?

Runners competed in several distances: half marathon (21 km), ten (10 km), five (5 km). Children took part in races of 100 and 200 m. The routes ran across the embankment. Half-marathon participants had to run around the Ternopil pond twice.

Approximately 600 adult participants and 70 children registered for the marathon.

To encourage the athletes, the event partners prepared cash prizes and gifts for the participants.

For the participants' comfort, changing tents, places for storing personal belongings, and tents where they could have a snack and regain their strength were arranged. A stage was also set up for awarding the participants.

All the funds collected during registration for "Faynozabih," which is UAH 275,000, were transferred to the military needs of the 105th Territorial Defense Brigade of Ukraine's armed forces.
