Solutions to win: Ukraine adopts new models of military equipment for its armed forces
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense adopted new models of military equipment to supply the Armed Forces — a helicopter and a high-speed motorcycle, Rubryka reports.
What is the problem?
Helicopters are an important part of the Ukrainian Air Force. For more than a year and nine months since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, they have been performing vital tasks near the front line and in the enemy rear in the Russian-occupied territory, evacuating the wounded, conducting fire, and covering the landing of special forces.
However, compared to the number of aircraft Russia has, Ukrainian defenders lack them and need more helicopters to be supplied.
What is the solution?
The Ukrainian defense ministry has adopted new models of military equipment — the BO 105 helicopter and the KTM 450 EHS high-speed motorcycle.
The BO 105 helicopter is a light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter developed by the German company Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm.
How does it work?
The ministry said the multi-purpose rotorcraft is being used for surveillance. Passengers and cargo can also be transported on board.
The helicopter made its first flight on February 16, 1967, and serial production continued until 2001. Due to its great popularity in the world, production facilities were deployed in Canada, Spain, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
This helicopter was produced in both military and civilian versions and is in service with many countries worldwide. As an attack aircraft, BO 105 can take up to 500 kg of combat load.
Ukraine seeks to obtain an export version of the BO 105-E4, which is converted from the BO 105P anti-tank helicopters used by the Bundeswehr.
According to Flight Global, helicopters of this model are in service in Albania (4), Bahrain (6), Chile (4), Honduras (1), Indonesia (22), Peru (2), and South Korea (12).
The helicopter can take up to four people on board with a maximum take-off weight of 2500 kilograms. The practical range reaches 575 kilometers. The cruising speed is 204 kilometers per hour.
In turn, the KTM 450 EHS motorcycle is used by Ukrainian defenders to transport soldiers and light weapons. The gasoline engine has a power of 48 horsepower, and the weight of the motorcycle is 105 kilograms.
KTM 450 EHS is a cross-country motorcycle (enduro), which is a certain benchmark among motorsports enthusiasts. The motorcycle was constantly improved due to feedback from riders. It is also suitable for driving on difficult terrain.
Rubryka reported that the Ministry of Defense is testing two models of women's body armor with special inserts that take into account the peculiarities of the female body structure.
On August 2, then Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov announced that the ministry was commissioning the tenth FPV drone model for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As Rubryka reported, the newly appointed Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov was confident that staff changes in the ministry would reboot the department.
