There is always a risk of freezing war in Ukraine – Stoltenberg

Wars are by their very nature unpredictable, and no one can predict exactly how this war will develop. Of course, we hope that we can have a just and lasting peace as soon as possible. We are working to achieve this. But the shortest way to peace is providing military support to Ukraine.

NATO Secretary-General added that there is always a risk of freezing the war. But, in his opinion, allies are working to prevent this from happening.

Of course, there is always a risk that President Putin will do this. We have seen that he is trying to do everything he can to prevent Ukrainians from vacating their land. We will continue our support, we will continue to stand by Ukraine. We are doing this because the Ukrainian battle is our battle, Stoltenberg emphasized.

Ukraine and Russia held several rounds of negotiations at the beginning of the full-scale war, being currently on hold.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and other government officials have emphasized that Ukraine will not return to the negotiating table until Moscow withdraws its troops. Turning back the troops and the restoration of territorial integrity would be a victory for Ukraine.

As Zelensky recently stated, diplomacy with Putin is a mistake because "he can only negotiate with himself."
