Powerful explosion reported on Russian ship in occupied Sevastopol
A powerful explosion rocked occupied Sevastopol in Crimea on Friday.
The blast likely occurred on a Russian ship, Rubryka reports, referring to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel.
According to locals, a Russian ship exploded after 10.30 a.m. during a raid in Sevastopol. It is reported that even residents of the city center, which is far from the coastline, heard the explosion.
"The deaf explosion was felt by the residents of the city center; car alarms went off," the report said.
Later, footage showing the Russian ship burning was published on social media. It is assumed that it was a "Buyan-M" missile ship — a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles that Russians often used to attack Ukrainian cities.
The Russian-appointed governor of the occupied Sevastopol, Rozvozhaiev, reported that the explosion was part of the training of anti-submarine sabotage support.
"Search and rescue exercises are also being conducted in the waters of the Black Sea," Rozvozhaiev said.
Rubryka previously reported that as of Friday, six enemy ships were on combat duty in the Black Sea, including one carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.
Ukraine's Navy also recently confirmed the damage to the ship "Pavlo Derzhavin" of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the area of Sevastopol in Crimea.
