Ukraine prepares to evacuate 200 of its citizens from Gaza this week – ambassador
The Ukrainian embassy managed to arrange the first evacuation flight for its citizens who remained in Israel during the Hamas attack.
The evacuation will be concluded on October 14, Ukraine's ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, said.
The embassy provides assistance to the most vulnerable Ukrainians, including those undergoing treatment, citizens with children who arrived for a temporary stay, and tourists whose flights were canceled.
We have already distributed the first evacuation flight for 200 tickets at a moderate price, the 'pre-war' price, so to speak, to Romania for Saturday, the ambassador said.
The ambassador also noted that another flight will likely be scheduled for Sunday. The total number of people who requested the embassy to help with the evacuation is about a thousand.
The Ukrainian embassy in Israel has a record of 14,000 Ukrainians currently in the country, although the actual number is believed to be much higher, as reported by the Foreign Ministry.
Around 700 Ukrainians cannot leave Israel due to canceled flights, and 170 citizens would like to evacuate from the Gaza Strip.
