United to win: UK preparing new £100 mln military aid package for Ukraine

On Wednesday, Great Britain is expected to provide Ukraine with another large-scale military aid package worth over £100 million.

The UK Secretary of Defense, Grant Shapps, said the package would help the Ukrainian armed forces clear fields, maintain vehicles, and strengthen defense fortifications to protect critical national infrastructure.

"During my recent visit to Kyiv, I assured President Zelensky that the UK's support for Ukraine and their most urgent needs is unwavering," Shapps said.

Aid will be provided through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), which Great Britain launched together with Denmark in 2022. Since then, five other countries have contributed to the IFU, demonstrating the unity and determination of allies and partners supporting Ukraine.

"Today I am proud to announce that the UK, alongside our allies, is delivering on that promise with new contracts to provide Ukraine with critical air defense systems to protect civilians from Putin's barbaric bombing campaign, and more than £100 million of new equipment pledged to give Ukrainian soldiers what they need to breach Russia's deadly minefield," he added.

The package will also include the MSI-DS Terrahawk Paladin, a platform that can track and destroy drones.

On Wednesday, Shapps and other defense ministers gathered for the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss the ongoing international response to the Russian invasion.
