Ukraine returns nine more children from occupied Kherson region

Another nine children in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region were returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

The head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported this.

"It was possible to return to Ukraine the children who were in the temporarily occupied territories. From now on, five girls and four boys will live comfortably and psychologically safely. The children's ages are from 5 to 14 years old," the message reads.

According to him, the Save Ukraine organization managed to achieve this with the support of the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights and the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of 2023, it has been possible to return 121 children from the Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

For reference:

According to the official data of the Ukrainian authorities, as of August 31, 2023, from February 24, 2022, 19,546 children were deported from Ukraine to Russia. These are only those cases that have been officially recorded.

So far, 386 children have been returned to Ukraine.

In addition, Kyslytsia stated at the UN Security Council that Russia's invasion of Ukraine affected all 7.5 million Ukrainian children.

As Rubryka wrote, Ukraine's authorities have recorded the stay of children kidnapped by the Russian Federation in 57 regions of Russia.

On July 31, Maria Lvova-Belova, appointed by the Kremlin as the commissioner for children's rights, confirmed that since the beginning of the war, the occupiers have taken about 4.8 million Ukrainians to the Russian Federation. Among them were more than 700,000 children who allegedly did not have parents.

It should be noted that after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for the arrest of the Russian ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian authorities changed their tactics of deporting Ukrainian children.

Representatives of the Russian Federation began to use new definitions in official documents so that no one could accuse them of kidnapping.
