Kyiv authorities present shelter to accommodate 700 civilians
Kyiv authorities presented a dual-purpose shelter in the Gatne community, which can accommodate 700 people at a time.
It is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay for a long time, the press release says.
What is the problem?
The main condition for full-time education in Ukrainian schools is having a safe shelter. Creating an environment for children's quality education is still one of the priorities, so parents want to ensure their children will be fine when they send them to school and kindergartens.
What is the solution?
The protective structure was built for the Yuriyivka Lyceum, where 365 children study.
The shelter has four halls with the necessary furniture and interactive complexes, three rooms for staff, and a large corridor with seating.
The shelter has a modern fire protection system, internet connection, a fire shield, fire extinguishers, modern ventilation, water supply, and sewage systems.
The premises have six bathrooms and six showers, supplies of drinking water, food, medical kits, blankets, sleeping bags, cots, and futons.
A powerful generator (75 kW) was purchased for the needs of the educational institution and the shelter.
How does it work?
The total cost of the project is $340,000. The region allocated $158,000 in co-financing for this shelter. This money is being used to carry out a number of waterproofing measures to prevent water from leaking into the basement where the shelter is located.
The shelter has two separate entrances from different sides. One is equipped for people with special educational needs.
There are stocks of drinking water, food, medical kits, blankets, sleeping bags, cots, and futons. A powerful generator (75 kW) was purchased for the needs of the educational institution and the shelter.
