49 civilians killed in Russian attack on cafe near frontline Kupiansk
Russian forces struck the town of Hroza near Kupiansk, the frontline city suffering from constant shelling daily.
The enemy missile hit a cafe, where citizens held a ceremony to honor the memory of their dead resident, authorities report. Around seven people, including children, remain injured.
As of 2020, about five hundred people lived in Hroza.
The occupiers attacked around 1 p.m. when many civilians were in the cafe. Rescuers are still working on site. Around 50 dead people, including a 6-year-old boy, have been pulled from the rubble.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has already responded to the Russian missile attack.
A missile strike on an ordinary grocery store is a deliberate terrorist attack. It is indicative of a cruel Russian crime, he said.
Zelensky called on Ukraine's allies to stop Russian terror against civilians.
Russia does terrorist attacks to make its genocidal aggression the new normal tendency for the whole world. I thank every leader, every nation that supports us in the defense of life, Zelensky added.
The President is currently attending the summit of the European Political Community, where he is discussing with the leaders of European countries the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense and the reinforcement of Ukrainian soldiers.
