Powerful explosions continue in Kherson as Russian forces shell the city all night and morning
All night and morning of Monday, October 2, Russian troops bombed and shelled Kherson. Powerful explosions continue rocking the southern city.
Rubryka reports, citing the statement of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, that the Russian attacks started on Sunday night, October 1, around 11:40 p.m.
"The Russian military once again shelled the residential quarters of Kherson," the regional prosecutor's office said.
The prosecutor's office added that the Russian artillery shelling caused a fire at a private home.
"A 13-year-old girl was moderately injured, and her 12-year-old sister was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction due to shelling. Their mother also sustained shrapnel injuries," the department said, adding that the victims were in their homes during the shelling.
Powerful explosions were heard in Kherson again on Monday morning, October 2, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, said.
"The Russian army renewed the shelling of Kherson!" he said, warning the residents not to leave shelters. "Take care of yourself and your loved ones!"
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported the Russian forces launched 71 rounds of shelling over the past day, firing 392 shells from mortars, artillery, Grad launchers, tanks, ATGMs, aviation, and UAVs at the Kherson region. The Russians fired 20 shells toward the city of Kherson.
The Russian military targeted the residential quarters, the factory, and the tractor brigade in the Kherson area, a store, educational and medical institutions, and a critical infrastructure facility in the Berislav area. The Russian forces killed one and injured six civilians, two of them children.
As Rubryka reported, an air raid warning was announced in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions on the night of October 2 because of the missile threat. Russian drones were again recorded in the Kherson region.
Over the past week, the Russian forces significantly intensified the shelling of Kherson and the Ukrainian-controlled part of the region. In addition to aerial bombs, the Russians also fired missiles at the city.
On Sunday night of October 1, the Russian occupying forces dropped ten aerial bombs on the Kherson region. Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, the spokesperson for the Kherson regional administration, reported that four people were injured in the shelling. He added that one person was under the rubble.
Tolokonnikov added that over the past seven to eight days, the Russian occupiers have dropped 166 aerial bombs on the region.
Yesterday afternoon, October 1, the Russian army attacked a residential quarter of Kherson using a drone. Employees of the State Emergency Service had to rescue a mother and three children whose house caught fire due to the shelling.
