Ukraine starts training for instructors of regional emergency medical aid centers

In Ukraine, the first face-to-face trainings on providing pre-hospital care for instructors of regional emergency medical care centers took place. The training is conducted within the scope of the project of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, "Improving health care at the service of people," jointly with the World Bank.

What is the problem?

The Ministry of Health continues improving the national emergency medical care system. This lengthy process, which combines several directions and has several stages, started several years ago. Thanks to the support of World Bank projects, the development of the capabilities of the emergency medical care system, in particular at the pre-hospital stage, gradually increased.

According to Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor, who coordinates activities within the framework of joint projects with the World Bank, further training on providing emergency medical aid in case of emergencies and traumatic injuries for medical personnel in hospitals is already being planned.

What is the solution?

Instructors of educational and training departments who conduct training for their colleagues — medical personnel of emergency medical teams — first underwent training at the Ternopil National Medical University named after Gorbachevskyi of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine of the city of Kyiv and the regional centers of Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions became the first centers in which university trainers provide on-site supervision of specialists starting independent teaching activities.

How does this solution work?

Over the next two months, 100 instructors from all regional centers in Ukraine will undergo such trainings. As a result, they will become certified prehospital care instructors.

At the same time, the development of a theoretical course for remote training of all specialists of regional centers of emergency medical aid and disaster medicine, which will be available on the online platform shortly, continues.

The Ministry of Health added that thanks to this approach, in a relatively short time — within a few years — about 25,000 employees of emergency medical care and disaster medicine centers across Ukraine will be covered by training in modern approaches to critical patient management.
