Explosions rock Kursk and occupied Sevastopol: Ukraine's intelligence reports on drone attack
On Monday night, explosions rang out in occupied Sevastopol and the Russian city of Kursk. The Russians once again reported the drone attack.
According to initial reports, the local building of the interior ministry was hit in Kursk, Rubryka reports, referring to Russian propaganda media and RBC-Ukraine sources in Ukraine's special services.
Explosions in Kursk rang out in the morning. Propagandists claim Russian air defense forces shot down a drone over the city. The Russians also claim that debris fell on the roof of a private house, causing a fire.
The governor of Russia's Kursk Oblast, Roman Starovoit, said that several private houses and the roof of an administrative building were damaged in the central Kursk district due to a UAV attack.
"The anti-aircraft defense worked on the target. There were no casualties," he said, adding that the windows in the apartment building were broken.
"A new series of explosions took place in the morning. The interior ministry building was struck," sources in Ukraine's special services told RBC-Ukraine, adding that the new raid continues the attacks in Kursk, particularly on the Russian security service building and the refinery.
Strong explosions were also heard in temporarily occupied Sevastopol in Crimea. Loud noises rang out over the city around 2 a.m. Locals claim that the explosion was so powerful that it was heard even in Bakhchisarai, which is 10 km from Sevastopol.
Russian-appointed occupation authorities did not comment on the night explosions over the occupied Ukrainian city.
Background
Tonight's attack continues the series of attacks on the Russian military bases and fleet based in Crimea. On Sunday, September 24, a powerful explosion thundered in the Russian city of Kursk. According to initial data, the Russian security service's building and an oil refinery near the local airfield were attacked.
Rubryka also reported that the Russian information space was shaken by the news of the attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol on September 22. Russian Z-bloggers began to criticize the Russian authorities.
Later, the video was published, showing the moment the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet was hit in the occupied Sevastopol in Crimea. The building was immediately engulfed in black smoke, and there were no signs of air defense being activated.
In addition to Sevastopol, fires in the occupied Crimea were noticed on the airfield in Novofedorivka and Simferopol, and ambulances were sent to Hvardiiske.
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk responded to the missile attack on Russia's Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol, thanking the Ukrainian pilots and expressing hope that Russian air defense "will not fail" next time.
