During a meeting at the White House, US President Joe Biden wants to hear from his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky his personal assessment of the development of events at the front, particularly the progress in the counteroffensive of Ukraine's armed forces.

The US National Security Council coordinator, John Kirby, stated this during a briefing in New York.

"The president [Biden – ed.] is looking forward to hearing from President Zelensky about the Ukrainian counteroffensive, as well as the progress they're making — kind of his own assessment of what the situation looks like on the battlefield," Kirby said.

In addition, according to him, Biden wants to assure Zelensky that when the US says it will stay with Ukraine as long as it is necessary, then Ukrainians should understand that the support will continue.

Kirby emphasized that the White House meeting will occur at a "critically important time." He reminded that Ukraine's armed forces continue to succeed in the counteroffensive; Russia appeals to other exile countries, such as North Korea, and the international community unites to support Ukraine, particularly in the "Ramstein" format.

The representative of the White House confirmed that the President of Ukraine plans to visit the US Congress during his visit to Washington.

"It is important for members of Congress to hear directly from President Zelensky all the same things that President Biden will hear from him," added the representative of the American administration.

Kirby also emphasized that the Ukrainian leader has always publicly and privately expressed gratitude for everything the United States does to support the Ukrainian army.

For reference:

The Ukrainian president's plane landed in New York on the evening of September 18. According to the plan, Zelensky planned meetings with American politicians and business people and a speech at the UN General Assembly.

Volodymyr Zelensky has already visited wounded Ukrainian defenders in a New York hospital.

In addition, the President of Ukraine will meet with Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in New York on September 20, and a meeting with American leader Joe Biden in Washington is also planned.

Polish President Andrzej Duda also confirmed a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
