United to win: Norway donates 50 NM199 tracked trucks to Ukraine
As part of regular military aid, Norway will hand over 50 NM199 tracked trucks to Ukraine.
This is reported on the website of the Norwegian government.
What is the problem?
Very soon, Ukraine will experience true autumn weather, hindering the Ukrainian military's movement at the frontline. With the rain, the fields will turn into a swamp, making it impossible for wheeled vehicles to operate.
Ukraine's defenders desperately need vehicles to cut through the mud and deliver ammunition, supplies, and medical aid to the front lines.
What is the solution?
As part of regular military aid, Norway will hand over 50 NM199 tracked trucks to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
How does it work?
It is noted that the NM199 is a tracked vehicle that is able to move on terrain inaccessible to wheeled vehicles.
"This [the supply of tracked trucks to Ukraine – ed.] is important to ensure supplies to areas where there are no roads," Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram said.
Therefore, the Norwegian government emphasizes that these transporters are an important addition to wheeled trucks.
They can transport ammunition, food, and water to Ukrainian troops in the field.
As reported, NM199 were stored in the Norwegian army, but the trucks were undergoing maintenance before being transferred to Ukraine.
For reference:
It should be noted that earlier, the mass media reported that Norway decided to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. In total, the country has 57 such aircraft in service.
- Norway will also send missiles for the IRIS-T air defense system and demining equipment to Ukraine.
- In addition, Ukraine will receive drone protection systems from Norway. The delivery consists of several CORTEX Typhon systems.
- Also, Norway additionally handed over 1,000 miniature drones to Ukraine's armed forces.
- Norway and Denmark will jointly transfer 9,000 artillery shells to the Ukrainian army.
It should be noted that Denmark agreed to provide Ukraine with 15 modernized T-72EA tanks and 30 Leopard 1 battle tanks.
