United to win: South Korea donates two Rhino minesweepers to Ukraine

Ukraine will receive two K600 Rhino minesweeping machines from South Korea.

What is the problem?

Demining is one of the most challenging tasks on the battlefield.

At the moment, Ukraine's armed forces have launched an offensive and need equipment that will help the Ukrainian military pass enemy minefields, which in turn are a component of the echeloned defense of the Russians deployed in the temporarily occupied territories of Southern Ukraine.

The Russian occupiers are betting on fortification to " slow down " our troops' forward movement. Therefore, any engineering equipment supporting mechanized units in battle is essential to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

South Korea will send two K600 Rhino minesweeping machines to Ukraine.

How does it work?

"Recently, the government decided to send two minesweepers to Ukraine as soon as possible in addition to the previous batch of old minesweepers. This happened after an urgent request and promise of President Yoon Suk Yeol to support Ukraine," the agency's source said.

It is noted that although Rhino is not a lethal weapon, it's the heaviest combat equipment that South Korea has sent to Ukraine so far.

The government also reportedly decided following a meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two sides are believed to have struck a deal on arms.

However, due to "concern about Russia's reaction," the government will ask Ukraine to use vehicles only for humanitarian operations.

It should be noted that during the session of the G20 summit, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol promised to provide an additional $2.3 billion in aid to Ukraine.
