Ukraine's armed forces liberate Klishchiivka in Donetsk region
Ukrainian troops liberated Klishchiivka in Donetsk region the day after freeing Andriivka.
The village's liberation was confirmed by the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of Ukraine's armed forces, and the head of the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces press service, Ilia Yevlash.
"I confirm. Klishchiivka is ours, Ukrainian," the spokesman emphasized.
The head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, was the first to hint at the village's liberation.
On Sunday, September 17, he published a photo with Ukrainian military personnel in Klishchiivka. He wrote, "Ukraine always returns what belongs to it," but did not specify where the photo was taken. However, Radio Svoboda noted that the settlement can be recognized by the stone church at the background.
Soon, this information was confirmed by the military, which announced the village's liberation and published a corresponding video.
"The settlement of Klishchiivka was finally freed from the Russian invaders by the forces of the 80th separate amphibious assault brigade, the 5th separate assault brigade, the separate combined assault brigade of the police "Liut." The enemy is doing all they can to cause as much harm as possible to our troops and is attacking with all the firepower they have," the 80th brigade said in a statement.
The 80th separate amphibious assault brigade liberated the village in the Bakhmut direction, the 5th separate assault brigade, the United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine "Liut," the military said.
" We sincerely thank the volunteers and volunteer organizations who are a reliable rear for us! Thanks for your constant help and support!" — the 80th separate amphibious assault brigade noted.
For reference:
Klishchiivka is located south of Bakhmut, next to Andriivka, which Ukraine's armed forces liberated on September 15.
Thus, the liberation of Klishchiivka and Andriivka enables the Ukrainian army to continue the operation to encircle Bakhmut. These two villages are vital to cutting the logistical routes of supplying the Russian military to captured Bakhmut from the south. The liberation of these villages will allow the Russians to be pushed out of Bakhmut.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian military continues to knock out the enemy from the south of Ukraine. Their goal is to clear the strip from the left bank for at least 10-15 km.
At the same time, Maliar recently noted that the occupiers do not want to leave their lost positions in the south, so the Defense Forces have to protect them from enemy assaults. She said the Defense Forces have had steady success on the Bakhmut front and are advancing in the south.
