Kyiv activists joined World Cleanup day by hosting dozens of garbage-cleaning campaigns

On the occasion of World Cleanup Day, Ukrainian ecoactivists hosted large-scale cleanups in Kyiv at over 20 locations.

What is the problem?

Cleanups are not just a burden or a boring task but an opportunity to join a community or mass project. Most of them are dedicated to joint cleaning or improvement of the environment.

World Cleanup Day is made to raise awareness of ecology issues and unite people all over the world. Ukraine's ambassador for this event is Let's Do It, Ukraine organization that hosted the latest cleanup.

These events are held in all Ukrainian cities and towns, with celebrities and opinion leaders joining in. Those who cannot attend physically can start their own digital cleanup.

In these challenging times, we must be especially united, showing the enemy how difficult it is to break the morale of Ukrainians. The city authorities are grateful to everyone who joined the work today, said Petro Panteleev, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The Kyiv ecology department Kyivzelenbud joined the big cleanup, hosting it at more than 20 locations.

How does it work?

All clean-ups were held in every district of Kyiv and on the territories of forestry enterprises, where allowed.

The organizers said World Cleanup Day brings together millions of volunteers, governments, and organizations in nearly 200 countries.

All this is being done to tackle the global crisis of poor waste management and help create a new, more sustainable world.

This year's event united over 70 million people worldwide. Ukraine joins the related activities for the sixth time.

We must jointly create a culture of cleanliness, proper waste management and responsible consumption. Together we are moving towards a clean European future, the ministry emphasized.
