Ukraine’s “Army of Drones” initiative staffed 17 combat UAV companies

The Ukrainian "Army of Drones" initiative has already staffed 17 UAV strike companies within the brigades, equipped with the allies' efforts.

The project also helped to purchase 53 new pickups from Ukrainian troops, citing the UNITED24 fundraising platform.

What is the problem?

The all-Ukrainian fund notes all combat operators need vehicles to save the lives of their comrades and accurately launch drones at Russian targets.

Just like drones, vehicles are an easy target to hit by the enemy, so Ukrainian forces need to constantly replenish their resources.

What is the solution?

The "Army of Drones" started training 10,000 drone operators and manufacturing drones to quickly equip troops. The efforts of the AFU General Staff and the UNITED24 platform supported the new stage of creating more companies.

How does it work?

The allies helped purchase 53 new pickup trucks for the "Army of Drones" companies. The vehicles were distributed among the formed units already destroying the enemy on the front line.

Since this year's June, the formed drone companies have destroyed 1,280 pieces of Russian equipment.

These are hundreds of millions of dollars. A $500 drone can destroy a Russian tank worth $3 to $5 million, the press release says.

The initiative is currently equipping new drone operators. By the end of the year, it will fulfill all brigades with well-taught drone operators and devices themselves.

This technological transformation will help to quickly track the movements of the occupiers and effectively destroy them, said Colonel Andrii Diachenko, Head of the UAV Department of the General Staff.

The strike drone companies are Ukraine's response to the challenges of new warfare technologies. Previously, the UNITED24 fundraising platform has raised $325 million over the past year, as 10,000 drone operators have already been trained for the battles.
