"History books will tell how Ukraine has transformed modern warfare"– NATO admiral
Ukraine's armed forces are making progress daily, and their NATO partners will keep supporting Ukraine in the fight for liberty.
The chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said this today in Oslo during the opening of the annual NATO conference at the level of defense chiefs (chiefs of staff) of the Alliance countries, the correspondent of Ukrinform reports.
"Together, we defend much more than physical security. We defend freedom, democracy, and the sovereign rights of states and peoples to determine their destiny…
Each of us provides support to our Ukrainian brothers and sisters in uniform. They are fighting a war of unprecedented scale in an uncharted doctrinal field.
History books will tell how Ukraine has transformed modern warfare. They (Ukrainians) move forward every day, and each of their successes is another step towards victory," the Alliance commander emphasized.
The admiral noted that Russian troops continued to lose more and more positions in the temporarily occupied territories.
In addition, Russia itself suffers from the economic impact of sanctions and diplomatic isolation. Russia is forced to cooperate with unreliable international actors. Thereby increasing one's dependence on them.
At the same time, according to Bauer, the Russian leadership is still convinced that it will be able to "wait out" the collective determination of the Ukrainian people and all those who stand by them.
Russia has been preparing for this confrontation for years. Now, it is resorting to measures that are difficult for the economy and the country's population to restore its military capabilities. At the same time, the Russian disinformation machine continues its attempts to sow discord and division among Western democracies.
"President Putin wanted NATO to be divided and made every effort to do so. But we stand together now, more united than ever. We are united in believing that the rule of law is the same for all.
Conflicts should be resolved across the lines of communication, not on the battlefield, and the right to self-determination is inalienable.
From the first day to the last day of Russia's war against Ukraine, and many years after that, we will support Ukraine in its rightful choice for freedom and democracy. We will stand by to protect everything that is dear to us," the head of the NATO Military Committee emphasized.
He reminded that after Sweden completes the process of joining NATO, the number of military personnel protecting the Alliance will increase to 3.5 million.
Together, they'll be able to accomplish what wouldn't be achievable on their own and observe what wouldn't be visible on their own. The admiral paid tribute to the men and women serving in the Alliance's armed forces for their professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice.
For reference:
The annual conference at the level of defense chiefs (chiefs of staff), which is taking place on September 16 in Oslo, considers the further development of NATO's defense capabilities to implement the decisions of the Vilnius Summit of the Alliance.
In particular, this concerns the implementation of national defense plans of member countries and their coordination within the framework of general planning in the NATO deterrence and defense system.
What is known about the counteroffensive of Ukraine's armed forces
According to the General Staff, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation on the Melitopol front. The defenders have to face heavily mined areas and well-built enemy fortifications.
As Rubryka reported, Ukrainian soldiers entered the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region and organized the evacuation of civilians.
Also, Ukrainian soldiers continue successfully advancing on the Melitopol front, particularly in the Novodanilivka – Novoprokopivka section. They are fixed at the achieved boundaries.
Furthermore, down in the south, Ukrainian forces have already made it between the occupier's first and second line of defense, even though the occupiers spent 60% of their time constructing the first line and only 20% on the other two because they never anticipated that the Ukrainians would breach it.
In addition, on September 7, Ukrainian border guards raised the Ukrainian flag over the villages of Stroivka and Topoli in the Kharkiv region. The settlements are located in the so-called "gray zone" on the border with the Russian Federation.
On September 14, troops of Ukraine's armed forces liberated Andriivka in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.
