Six Russian soldiers sentenced to 15 years for capturing Mariupol and Bakhmut

Ukraine's security service's cyber specialists and investigators have gathered indisputable evidence of the guilt of 6 more traitors who fought against the Defense Forces on the eastern front.

Ukrainian forces captured them during fierce fighting in May and June this year in the areas of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Based on SSU evidence, the court sentenced the suspects to 15 years in prison.

Most of Russian suspects joined the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the Southern Military District at the beginning of the full-scale war. Some of them, however, were previously in the "Donetsk People's Republic" ranks in 2015 and fought against Ukrainian forces in the East.

At that time, one of them joined the Russian-controlled "9th Separate Marine Regiment" and the other joined the "Vostok" group.

Both suspects shelled Ukrainian troops' positions in the Yasynuvata and Pisky area in the Donetsk region and, after the start of the full-scale war, participated in the Mariupol capture.

Four more traitors were members of the so-called "people's militia of the Donetsk People's Republic" and stormed Bakhmut and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region after the start of the all-out war.

Other militants fired automatic weapons at Ukrainian forces positions near the village of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. They also equipped fortifications and firing points for the Russian occupiers near Avdiivka and Lysychansk.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the perpetrators guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
