Ukrainian developers present AI-based fake news detection app

Ukrainian developers have created the Mantis Analytics platform, an AI-based project aimed at researching and following numerous events and messages in media to detect possible fake news and disinformation.

What is the problem?

Ukraine's information space is one of the most vulnerable fields, which was easily taken under Russian control at the beginning of the aggression in 2014. Russia has been investing tons of money to ensure its propaganda affects millions of Ukrainians, prone to fake news consumption.

The level of Ukrainian media literacy remains lower than expected. However, the government and journalists have started more projects and launched useful tools to raise awareness of Russian fakes.

What is the solution?

Ukrainian developers have presented the Mantis Analytics platform, based on AI core. The app can monitor, analyze information, and detect fake news that leaked to Ukraine's information space.

How does it work?

Mykhailo Fedorov reassures the platform processes thousands of messages and gigabytes of data from the media, social networks, and other resources online. All the processed information is then put up on an interactive map.

The collected data helps to counter Russian disinformation and hostile propaganda more effectively, the minister adds. Users can see how Russians spread fakes and share information.

Mantis is just one of the unique programs created by Ukrainians and tested within the Brave1 defense-tech cluster.

Brave1 is a unified platform for cooperation in the field of defense technology between companies, the state, its military, investors, volunteer foundations, the media, and everyone who helps bring Ukraine's victory through technology.
