Germany delivers Marder vehicles and 1.5 mln rounds in new military aid package

Ukraine received a new batch of military aid from Germany, which included Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Wisent 1 demining tanks, reconnaissance drones and UAV detection systems, and 155 mm artillery ammunition, Rubryka reports.

According to Germany's updated data on military aid to Ukraine, Berlin transferred to Kyiv:

• 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles with ammunition,
• 3,000 artillery shells of 155 mm caliber,
• two Wisent 1 demining tanks,
• materials to dispose of explosive ammunition.

The package also includes protective and special equipment, including one satellite communication surveillance system, 20 RQ-35 HEIDRUN reconnaissance drones, two mobile antenna-mast systems, and ten drone detection systems.

The new package also includes automotive equipment: one 8×8 HX81 tractor unit and four semi-trailers, nine cars (trucks, minibusses, SUVs), five 8×8 forklift trucks, and three ambulances.

The Ukrainian military also received another 1.5 million cartridges for firearms.

As Rubryka reported on Monday, Germany handed Ukraine a modern mobile field hospital worth €9 million. 

Germany also announced that it wants to transfer 40 Marders to Ukraine. They are among the best IFVs in the world, thanks to a combination of speed, protection, firepower, and maneuverability. Marder effectively cooperates with Leopard tanks as part of a strike group.

In March, the Rheinmetall arm manufacturer shipped the first 20 infantry fighting vehicles ordered by the German government to Ukraine. In June 2023, another 20 vehicles were ordered. They are now being refurbished and shipped.
