Opened in the dark, the exhibit presents tactile copies of paintings by famous Ukrainian and international artists, Rubryka reports.
What is the problem?
"One of the goals of our project is to increase the accessibility of art for the blind," says Alina Marnenko, founder of the museum that hosts the show. "We've already created over 100 tactile exhibits and held several thematic inclusive exhibitions, but the Paintings that Come to Life exhibition is special because we used a new approach."
Marnenko went on to explain that visitors to the exhibit will be able to experience both a tactile painting and a separate sculpture of the main subjects of the paintings.
What is the solution?
The team of the museum in the dark "Three After Midnight" will hold an exhibition of tactile paintings, which will be exciting both for blind visitors, for whom it's a unique chance to get acquainted with art in an accessible form, and for the sighted, for whom it's a new experience and an opportunity to see on painting from a new angle.
The show presents Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Pablo Picasso's Lady with a Fan, Claude Monet's Water Lilies, Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko's Beast, Taras Shevchenko's Catherine, and other artists.
How does it work?
The exhibition "Paintings that Come to Life" will be presented by blind guides. It will consist of two parts: exposure in the dark and activities in the light after the tour.
The experience in the dark will be complemented by thematic sounds and elements from the paintings, which will help to immerse visitors more in the atmosphere depicted by the artists.
To participate in the exhibition, you need to go to the website and book a time and day at https://0300.com.ua/lviv/lviv-art-exhibition
The Museum in the Dark, "Three After Midnight," is located in Lviv at Lychakivska Street, 8. You can visit the exhibition until October 31.
