United to win: Denmark donates over $830 mln in aid to Ukraine
Today, September 12, Denmark announced the delivery of a new military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 833 million dollars.
The Ministry of Defense of Denmark reported this.
It is noted that this is the 12th aid package, and it is the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation.
"The package of donations is financed by the "Ukraine" fund and, in cooperation with international partners, provides several necessary items that can support the military defense of Ukraine," the message reads.
These are tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, tank ammunition, and anti-aircraft guns.
The entire amount is divided into three stages: $617 million this year, $209 million in 2024, and $7 million in 2025.
But it is also reported that the aid package for Ukraine has yet to be approved by the Finance Committee.
"For Ukraine to continue to defend itself against the illegal invasion of Russia, it is essential that countries like Denmark continue to provide military and financial support to Ukraine," said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
On the eve of the upcoming meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in Ramstein, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs informed the Foreign Policy Council about this assistance today.
"With today's package of donations, we are entering a new phase. After more than a year and a half of war, we will soon empty the reserves of the Ministry of Defense," said Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lekke Rasmussen.
According to him, that is why Denmark is considering more targeted joint procurement and international cooperation, which will be adapted to the needs of Ukraine.
For reference:
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian war against Ukraine, Denmark has made multiple contributions to support Ukraine, showing that it will stand in solidarity with the country despite the ever-evolving situation.
According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Denmark's total commitment to support Ukraine amounts to 0.961 bln euros, 0.291% of GDP, which puts Denmark in the twelfth highest rank among other contributing countries.
