Ukrainian charity fund rebuilds kindergarten in war-blighted village in Kyiv region

The newly restored kindergarten school "Svitlyi" opens its door to children in the war-torn village of Shybene near Borodianka, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

Before the full-scale war, the village of Shybene in the Kyiv region had always had a problem with the lack of a modern kindergarten. This kindergarten was housed in a small village building, which the Russian invaders damaged in the first month of the invasion. Children and parents who wanted to provide their children with quality education and care were deprived of access to their fundamental rights because of the Russian war against Ukraine.

What is the solution?

The solution to this problem was found by the Ukrainian charity fund created by military volunteer Svitlana Lehka. The Svitlyi Foundation took it upon themselves to rebuild the kindergarten with the support of activist Nika Bilotserkivska, singer Olia Poliakova, Azovstal defender and veteran Mykhailo Dianov, and other volunteers, patrons, and numerous donors from Ukraine and abroad.

Together, the volunteers rebuilt and adapted the kindergarten to modern educational standards, equipped it with up-to-date equipment and furniture, and also rebuilt a new school canteen.

How does it work?

After the successful reconstruction, which cost ₴1,200,000 ($32,475), the kindergarten is now available for children and their parents in the village of Shybene.

The opening of the restored kindergarten was festive. Kindergarten students performed, and a fun doll show, an exciting soap bubbles performance, and an animation program were staged for the audience. Kids and parents could talk to honorary guests, including Olia Poliakova, Mykhailo Dianov, and TV presenter Anna Zakletska.

The village has acquired not only a modern kindergarten but also a symbol of unity and faith. The residents have more hope for the Ukrainian community thanks to joint efforts to rebuild their home.

Rubryka also reported that teenagers from a war-battered village in the Chernihiv region created a space for active youth from an abandoned library.

Rubryka also reported that the restored "Ruta" kindergarten, which the Russians destroyed in the first months of their invasion, was opened in Irpin, Kyiv region. Lithuania took over all the costs of its reconstruction.
