Ukrainian forces used a kamikaze tank to attack Russian positions in Zaporizhzhia region
Ukraine's 128th separate mountain assault brigade used a captured Russian kamikaze tank against the enemy troops.
The soldiers put explosives in the vehicle and aimed the tank at the positions so the infantry would suffer no losses during the storm operation.
The 128th Brigade used a new tactic against the Russians in the Zaporizhzhia region, meaning a trophy kamikaze tank. The tank hit a mine in front of enemy fortifications, but the blast from the detonation was so effective that no one disturbed our infantry from those positions anymore, the brigade's press service emphasized.
The press service also added that a tank driver had the most dangerous role in the operation. He had to bring in the tank lined with explosives to the enemy positions within shooting distance.
Vasyl Dudynets from western Mukacheve agreed to perform this task. Comrades call him "a simple man, a migrant worker who had worked in Czechia for many years."
He joined the military ranks of Ukrainian forces in March 2022, a month after the full-scale war began.
Obviously, I knew that I might not get back from the mission. But if the tank had been hit and the explosives detonated, it would have been instant death. I mean, everything is clear, you are either alive or dead.
This is not the case when your arm and leg are blown off and then your wife or children wheel you around and constantly take care of. For me, it's better to come back unharmed or die quickly. That's why I immediately agreed when the commanders told me about the objective, he said.
The soldier also emphasized that he joined the army to fight the enemy, end the war immediately, return home, and raise his children.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops continued to advance south of the liberated Robotyne, known for being a heavily mined town at the beginning of the counteroffensive. They managed to liberate another 1.5 square kilometers of their homeland.
As of September 10, the Ukrainian forces eliminated almost 500 Russian invaders, making a total of more than 268,600 occupants' personnel lost since the beginning of the full-scale war.
