Ukraine's reconstruction: over 3,900 windows installed in the Kyiv region with international partner support

Almost 4,000 windows have already been installed in the communities of the Kyiv region with the assistance of international partners.
Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko announced this on Facebook.
What is the problem?
In the Kyiv region, after the de-occupation of the region, the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure was recorded in 46 out of 69 territorial communities. As a result of the military aggression of the Russians, almost 27,500 objects were damaged or destroyed in the territory of the Kyiv region.
It was noted that critical destruction was caused in the Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodianka, Makariv, Velikodymerka, and Pisky territorial communities.
Today, many residents of the Kyiv region who fled the war cannot return home. One of the reasons is the damaged housing, including the lack of windows.
What is the solution?
"The Kyiv region will receive $1 million worth of windows to be installed at facilities damaged due to the full-scale invasion of Russia. The non-profit organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) will provide such assistance to the region in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF). We have signed with the founder of GEM, Mike Capponi, the corresponding memorandum of cooperation," Kravchenko previously reported.
How does it work?
"Almost four thousand window structures were installed by the non-profit organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF)," Kravchenko said.
He said they are being installed on objects damaged due to Russian military aggression.

The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration noted that windows worth more than $750,000 have already been installed today. Works are ongoing.
"We are grateful to international partners helping restore the Kyiv region. Implementing the project with the support of GEM allows us to save enormous budget funds and direct them to other projects to recover the Kyiv region.
This is an example of effective cooperation and realization of a common goal – to return Ukrainians to their homes," the head of the region wrote.
As Kravchenko added, windows are being replaced in Hostomel, Borodianka, and Bucha.

It should be noted that by this time, more than 12,800 objects have already been successfully restored.
Windows bear the brunt of the blast wave. Volunteers found a way to help with restoration in Poland – they collected used windows and sent them to Ukraine. In our material "Windows for Ukraine: Polish volunteers provide used windows for Ukrainian houses affected by the war", learn how and why the project started in Poland and how it works.
