Russian rocket strike kills one and injures 25 in Kryvyi Rih

On Friday, September 8, the Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih, a Ukrainian city in the country's center. 

Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Serhii Lysak announced that the rocket hit the administration building, Rubryka reports.

According to the initial report, one person was killed, and 25 were injured. Three were retrieved from under the rubble. It is also reported that garages caught fire, covering 200 square meters. The information is being clarified.

Oleksandr Vilkul, Chief of the Defense Council of Kryvyi Rih, said that the city is deploying a headquarters to help people in the School of Arts (former Central City District Committee) behind the monument to St. Nicholas. People will be provided with assistance with building materials. The support base will receive applications for assistance from the city budget for damaged property.

Later, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko revealed the attack destroyed the administrative building of the police, killing a police officer. Three pulled out from the rubble by the first responders were in serious condition, and six other employees were injured.

According to him, emergency workers are extinguishing a fire in an area. The minister added nearby residential buildings were also damaged.

"The police are going apartment-by-apartment to check the condition of residents. Rescue operations are ongoing. We ask locals not to approach the scene for safety reasons," Klymenko said.

On the morning of September 8, an air raid alert was announced in Ukraine. The military warned Ukrainians about the threat of a missile attack. The warning was announced in 13 regions.

Rubryka reported that the Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with rockets in the morning. Russian troops also launched a missile attack on Sumy. The impact was recorded in the housing area.
