US announces sending depleted uranium shells with aid package worth $175 mln
The US Pentagon announced the delivery of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine.
The batch includes depleted uranium shells, which the state will send for the first time.
"The Ministry of Defense has announced additional security assistance to meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs," the statement said.
The latest US package includes:
- Equipment for Ukraine's air defense systems;
- Additional ammunition for highly mobile artillery rocket systems (HIMARS);
- 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells;
- 81-mm mortars and shells;
- 120-mm depleted uranium tank ammunition for Abrams tanks;
- Tube-launched, optically tracked and wire-guided missiles (TOW);
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
- More than 3 million rounds of ammunition for small arms;
- Tactical air navigation systems;
- Tactical secure communication systems and auxiliary equipment;
- Explosive ammunition for clearing obstacles;
- Spare parts, maintenance, and other field equipment.
The Pentagon clarified that this is the 46th aid package from the US to Ukraine worth $175 million.
