Russia's attack on Kostyantynivka affected 50 civilians and damaged 122 apartments – Ukraine's interior minister

Russia's attack on the frontline Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region targeted the civilian population while they were in a central market.

The shelling killed 17 civilians and wounded 33, says Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

DNA laboratories are working at the scene in Kostiantynivka. Specialists have taken DNA profiles from the bodies of the victims, and now they need to find the corresponding profiles of relatives. People who have lost contact with their loved ones should contact the National Police.

The weapon used in the attack is being identified by specialists. Explosive experts are working at the site, we will know this information soon, Klymenko added.

The Interior Minister also noted that almost all of the dead and injured were Kostyantynivka residents. The occupiers targeted the market because it is one of the most crowded places in the city.

Information about the death of the child has not yet been confirmed. Among the dead, the oldest woman was born in 1940, and the youngest was a man born in 2005. These are the bodies that have been identified so far, Klymenko said.

The minister also said that the strike damaged two five-story buildings and 122 apartments. The market suffered 28 pavilions, eight of which were destroyed.
