Russian drones attack Odesa region by night: air defense downs 17 Shaheds

On Monday night, September 4, the Russians launched Iranian-made Shahed attack drones over the southern Odesa region.
Rubryka reports, citing the statements of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, that 17 drones were downed, but there were still impacts.
For 3.5 hours, the Russian occupiers attacked the south of the Odesa region with kamikaze drones. Air defense forces shot down 17 drones over the region.
However, there were still impacts caused by a massive attack. In several settlements of the Izmail district, warehouse and production buildings, agricultural machinery, and industrial equipment were damaged.
Also, several fires broke out on the territory of civilian facilities due to falling debris from downed aerial threats. As of 7:00 a.m., the fire was already extinguished.
"For 3.5 hours, Russian terrorists attacked the south of Odesa region with attack drones," Kiper said in a statement. "Our air defense forces shot down 17 drones."
There were no casualties as a result of the night air raid.

"All relevant services continue to work at the scene. Law enforcement officers record the crimes of the Russians," Kiper added.
The military had informed about the threat of an air attack in this region at two o'clock in the morning.

The strikes lasted until half past six in the morning when the all-clear was announced in the Odesa region. Prymorske, Izmail, and surrounding areas, Kiliia district, i.e. the south of Odesa region, came under threat of attack.
Russian troops launched several groups of attack UAVs from the waters of the Black Sea. As Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region, noted around 04:00, the attack by strike drones lasted for hours. The official called on the residents of the Izmail district to stay in shelters and observe information silence.
Groups of attack UAVs were also recorded in the Kiliia district, moving along the border with Romania. Around five in the morning, the Air Forces announced a new group of Russian drones in the Black Sea area in the direction of the southern areas of the Odesa region. "They are moving along the same route as the previous ones," the military said.
Meanwhile, local publications and Telegram channels reported about explosions in the Izmail district, the work of air defense in the region, and reports of downed targets. Around half past six in the morning, when the all-clear was announced in the Odesa region, the Air Force Command reminded locals that it was forbidden to publish the recordings of the work of air defense and noted that official information on the number and types of downed air targets would be published later after the data has been summarized.
Russian attack on the night of September 4 and strikes on Odesa ports
The Russian invaders once again staged an air attack on the territory of Ukraine. The Air Force Command warned of the threat of the Russian forces using ballistic missiles for strikes and attack drones to target the southern Odesa and Kherson regions.
Before that, on the night of September 3, Russian troops fired several waves of Shahed drones from the south and southeast direction on the port infrastructure of the Danube in the Odesa region. In total, the Russian forces launched 25 kamikaze drones. Air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 22 of them. Three more drones hit one of the ports.
According to local media reports, the Russian forces attacked the port of Reni, causing a fire. Two people were injured.
In recent months, Russian troops have intensified attacks on the port infrastructure of Ukraine after Russia pulled out of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. So, on the night of August 16, the Russian military bombarded the south of Ukraine with kamikaze drones. Air defense forces shot down 13 Shaheds within the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. The key target of the Russian forces was ports, granaries, and trade infrastructure.
