Zelensky and Macron discuss Odesa security after Russia's shelling by night
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone talk with French Emmanuel Macron and discussed defense packages for Ukraine, grain corridors, and strengthening Odesa defenses.
The Odesa region is constantly targeted by Russian missiles and drones, which particularly strike grain terminals, causing the UN-backed Black Sea grain deal to fail.
I thanked France for taking the lead in implementing the Peace Formula. We discussed the Global Peace Summit, which needs to engage a broad number of countries, particularly those outside of Europe, Zelensky said.
The leaders discussed the specifics of security in the Black Sea and the continuation of the "grain corridor," pledging to strengthen cooperation in the protection of sea routes.
Separately, they discussed ensuring the functioning of the grain corridor and strengthening the security of the Odesa region.
During the negotiations, the leaders agreed on the participation of French companies in the Defence Industries Forum.
On August 30, Ukrainian FM Dmytro Kuleba and French Emmanuel Macron held a meeting in Paris to discuss military support for Ukraine, the Peace Formula, and the export of Ukrainian grain.
