Hungary calls for “security guarantees” for Russia, rejecting Ukraine’s NATO membership

Hungarian official made a scandalous statement regarding Ukraine, offering not to include it in the North Atlantic Alliance and giving Russia security guarantees.

According to the publication, the scandalous statement was made by the head of the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister Gergely Gulyás.

"The Western world, which supports Ukraine, should provide security guarantees to Russia, but in no case NATO membership to Ukrainians," he emphasized.

As the Hungarian official noted, the deployment of peacekeepers and other similar decisions will be able to ensure peace in Ukraine in the long run.

He is also sure that Ukraine will no longer be able to liberate the territories occupied by Russia.

In addition, Gulyás said that effective negotiations between Ukraine and Russia can only take place with the participation of the United States.

In addition, according to him, the Russian Federation does not pose a threat to Central Europe because the Russian army "did not achieve quick and striking results" in Ukraine in the last year and a half.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, criticized the sanctions for a long time and described the EU politicians as suffering from "war psychosis," due to which there is often a "lack of common sense" in decision-making.

Another object of Peter Szijjarto's criticism was Ukraine. He summarized the "hostile actions" of the Ukrainian government towards Hungary as follows:

• Suspension of Transcarpathian Hungarian schools;
• Ukraine included the OTP Bank in the list of international sponsors of the war;
• Information that the President of Ukraine was allegedly considering the possibility of blowing up the Druzhba oil pipeline.

It should be noted that Germany and Hungary argued on May 22 during a meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels over the role of this bank in the Russian war.
