Ukraine’s air defense successfully downs 22 out of 25 Shahed drones over Odesa region in new Russian attack

On the night of September 3, the Russian forces attacked the south of the Odesa region with 25 Shahed-136/131 attack drones; the air defense forces landed 22 drones.

The air forces reported that on the night of September 3, Russian invaders conducted multiple waves of attacks with Shahed-136/131 UAVs from the south and southeast, originating from Cape Chauda, temporarily occupied Crimea, and Primorsko–Akhtarsk, the Russian Federation.

As noted in the Air Force, a total of 25 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs were recorded, which attacked the southern regions of Odesa.

"22 of them were destroyed by the forces and means of the Air Force in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine," the military emphasized.

It should be noted that the enemy has been hitting Odesa's port infrastructure pretty regularly lately.

So, on August 14, the Russian invaders attacked Odesa three times; the air defense forces shot down 15 attack UAVs and 8 Kalibr-type missiles. The fragments of the downed missiles damaged a supermarket and a hostel; three civilians were injured.

In addition, on the night of August 30, during the Russian large-scale attack on Ukraine in the sky over the Odesa region, Ukrainian air defense shot down eight enemy missiles.

That night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with air-launched cruise missiles and attack drones. Air defense landed all 28 missiles and 15 UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type.
