Solutions to win: Ukrainian soldiers train on "Rys" robotic platforms as part of Army of Drones project

The Ukrainian military has already undergone combat training on the Rys robotic platforms transferred to the front as part of the Army of Drones project.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that on Telegram.

What is the problem?

It's become increasingly crucial for armies worldwide to focus on protecting their people since it's ultimately the people, not planes, tanks, and missiles, who decide the outcome of any war.

After all, using military units in open spaces almost always leads to significant losses.

Very often, low-flying UAVs are launched by militants to scout the positions of the Ukrainian army. After an attempt to destroy them, the positions are covered by Grad MLRS. It's critical to give the Ukrainian military installations that won't reveal the positions of their troops but will be able to find the locations of the enemy's artillery.

What is the solution?

"A few days ago, we handed over 25 Saber combat turrets and 5 Rys ground platforms to the front," the minister said.

How does it work?

"The equipment was distributed among ten units of the Defense Forces, which are fighting along the entire front line," he noted.

As Fedorov reported, the military has learned to operate turrets and ground platforms as quickly as possible and will soon use them against the Russians on the battlefield.

"Robotic systems in combination with drones will help to strike the occupiers more effectively. There will be more technologies at the front. We are working on this 24/7," the minister emphasized.

In addition, the Ministry of Digital Transformation reported that more than 1,000 drones and 30 robotic systems were sent to the front as part of the Army of Drones project. Many of these devices are innovative Ukrainian developments for remote warfare.

In general, the Armed Forces received:

  • 900 FPV drones
  • Over 100 Mavic and Matrice drones
  • Twenty-five combat turrets with remote control "Sabre."
  • Five ground platforms "Rys."

For reference:

Turret with remote control "Sabre" can be installed on a car, in a trench, dugout, or elsewhere. Machine guns, grenade launchers, or other weapons can be installed on the platform and remotely hit the enemy at a distance of up to 2 km.

The turret is equipped with a video camera and a thermal imager. Thanks to sensors and remote control, operators can fire from the turret from a safe location.

The Rys robotic platform is designed to assist the military in transporting weapons and equipment to hot spots. It safely delivers turrets or other equipment to its destination.

The military uses a control panel to manage and remotely deploy installations for dangerous battlefield missions, eliminating the need for personnel to risk their lives to transport them.

As reported, for more than 11 months of the existence of the Army of Drones project, 3,864 UAV complexes were purchased at the expense of United24. The sum of concluded contracts is more than UAH 4.3 billion. Training centers for UAV operators have taught 10,000 soldiers to operate drones.

Rubryka wrote earlier that 25 unique developments for the front were tested in Ukraine.
