Solution to win: Ukraine's armor maker presents first women's military body suit
Ukrainian Armor, a modern technological armor protection manufacturer, presented the first anatomical female body armor suit, called Ruta Liuta.
What is the problem?
Since the start of the war in 2014, women have been actively fighting along with men on the eastern front. Russia's full-scale only increased their number in the army. According to official data, as of May 2023, 42,000 women are serving in the Armed Forces, more than 5,000 of whom are directly in the danger zone. However, the issues remain the same. Women still lack proper armory and anatomical clothes to comfortably perform combat operations.
What is the solution?
Ukrainian Armor™, a domestic manufacturer of modern technological armor protection, presented the first anatomical female body armor suit, called Ruta Liuta.
How does it work?
The main difference from men's body armor is its design with the anatomy of the female body to provide maximum comfort and optimal protection for all vital organs.
Designed to meet the technical specifications of Ukraine's Defense Ministry, the "Ruta Lyuta" body armor has a 500% increased area of anti-shrapnel protection compared to ballistic plates, which significantly increases the chances of avoiding injury in combat.
The vest has an external pocket for a ballistic plate, which contributes to maximum comfort during long wear and helps to avoid rubbing and impaired blood circulation in the chest area. At the same time, the suit is much lighter than men's, as the ergonomic design ensures optimal weight distribution and comfort with minimal impact on maneuverability.
Yan Goncharov, the company's CEO, says the idea of developing a female armored suit has been around for a long time, but its creation required extensive research and preparation.
One of the first soldiers to try on the armored suit was Oksana, call sign "Oksi," a paramedic of Ukraine's National Guard and a member of the VETERANKA movement, the first and only association of Ukrainian women with military experience:
The ergonomically correct shape of the armored suit in relation to wearing it under a woman's chest is very comfortable and allows to move differently. It's easier to breathe in it, as it doesn't squeeze chest and all movements become different. And the main thing about the body armor is that it protects important parts of the body: neck, shoulders, hips, Oksana shared her impressions.
Women's anatomical armor is suitable for all body types. The creation consists of body armor, separate modules that protect the neck, shoulders, abdomen, groin, and outer thighs, as well as an armored support belt with shoulder straps. All parts are adaptable and adjustable in length, so they will fit women of any height.
Previously, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry finally approved a sample of a summer field uniform for women soldiers. The uniform is now officially part of Ukraine's military code.
The updated model of the uniform was based on all the wishes and comments of women soldiers who participated in the military (research) tests.
