Russian drones and rockets attack Kyiv by night: casualties reported

On Wednesday night of August 30, the Russian forces launched yet another massive attack on the capital, launching unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. 

Rubryka reports, citing the statements of the Kyiv City Military Administration and the Kyiv mayor, that falling debris killed and injured civilians and destroyed buildings in Kyiv.

First, an air raid alert was announced in the middle of the night. Monitoring channels reported that the rockets entered through the northern Sumy region and were heading through the Chernihiv region to the capital and the region.

"Air defense is activated in the capital!" the administration later reported.

The capital authorities also called on the residents of Kyiv not to leave their bomb shelters. "Explosions in the city. Stay in shelters!" Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klychko said.

Residents of Kyiv region were also warned about the rocket attack. "Residents of Kyiv region! Missile attack! Air defense forces are already working in the region. Observe informational silence. We urge you not to film or post the work of our defenders on the network!"  the Kyiv Regional Military Administration notified. "Take care of your own safety. Stay in shelters or follow the 'two walls' rule during an air raid."

At 05:24, Klychko reported that fragments of downed missiles had fallen in two capital districts.

"Debris fell on the roof of a commercial building in Darnytskyi district. Debris also fell in Shevchenkivskyi district. All services are at the scene," the mayor said.

According to the city administration, debris also fell on a building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Information about the destruction and victims is being established.

"In the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, debris also fell on the territory of non-residential buildings. Information about the destruction and victims is being clarified," said Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

According to Klychko, ambulances went to the place where the wreckage fell in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Medics hospitalized a 24-year-old woman: she received cuts from broken glass. Fires broke out at the location where the debris fell in the capital.

"Fires broke out in the places where the debris fell in the Darnytskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kyiv. The State Emergency Service is working on putting them out. The information about the victims is being clarified," the administration added.

Closer to 6 a.m., another place where fragments of a downed rocket fell was discovered in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

"Another place where debris fell was also discovered in the Shevchenkivskyi district. There is a fire in an open area," the capital's mayor reported.

At 6 a.m., it became known that two people died due to falling debris in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

"Unfortunately, as a result of debris falling in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, on the territory of the enterprise, two people died. Another one was injured. He is being treated," Popko said.

The killed were security guards of the enterprise, men aged 26 and 36. As of 06:15, the number of wounded has increased.

"Fire and rescue services continue to work at the places where debris fell, in particular, in the Darnytskyi district and four locations in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital. As a result of the enemy's missile attack in Kyiv, two people have died. Two people have been injured and hospitalized," said Klychko.

According to updated information, as of 7 a.m., the authorities reported three wounded. Two were hospitalized, and the third injured person was treated at the scene.

Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that fires and the destruction of residential buildings occurred due to falling debris in the Fastiv and Bucha districts of the Kyiv region. Debris from the Russian rocket was also found in the territory of the local cemetery.

A 69-year-old woman received burns due to the house catching fire from the falling debris. The 43-year-old and 49-year-old men in one of the households also have minor cuts.

Rubryka reported that the last time Kyiv was massively attacked was in June. Then, Russia attacked the Kyiv region with missiles and UAVs. Then, due to falling debris in one of the settlements of the Kyiv region, six people were injured, including one child.
