During a charity bike ride in the northwestern city of Rivne, the participants managed to raise ₴300,000 (over $8,000) for Ukrainian defenders, the Rivne Regional State Administration reports.

What is the problem?

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the donations for the needs of the Ukrainian forces and in support of humanitarian initiatives have reached almost ₴100 billion ($2.7 billion).

However, volunteers already say closing fundraising campaigns is becoming increasingly difficult. For comparison, as of February 2023, the average donation to the Come Back Alive Charity Fund was ₴3,500 ($95). In February 2022, this amount was ₴2,000 ($54).

According to the results of a survey by the Postmen communication agency, today, Ukrainians donate an average of ₴1,525 ($41) per month to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is half as much as a year ago.

More than half of the respondents (56.8%) claim that their expenses have increased significantly. At the same time, the share of those who have reduced or no savings has also increased. Less than 40% of respondents said that they have a financial reserve for half a year or more.

However, any donation to support the army is necessary and brings victory closer. A creative approach to organizing the fundraiser can help collect the required amount faster and more efficiently.

What is the solution?

A charity bike ride was organized in Rivne, during which the participants managed to raise ₴300,000 (over $8,000) for Ukrainian defenders.

How does it work?

"One hundred participants of the charity bike ride collected the necessary 300,000. The collected funds will be spent on the purchase of a mobile bath and laundry complex for the 66th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement said.

The Peace and Health – DEUS VULT charity bike ride is a traditional social initiative of the staff of the Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital named after Yurii Semeniuk for Independence Day.

This year, a hundred participants joined the initiative. In particular, a distance of 20+ kilometers was covered by 106 cycling enthusiasts. Among the participants were both professionals and beginners, for whom such a route is not challenging.

The organizers also prepared a charity fair. The proceeds were also added to the treasury of the fundraiser.

The first such bicycle race took place eight years ago. Then, 36 doctors took part in it. Last year, the event became a charity event, united about 100 participants, and collected more than 100,000 to purchase CAT G7 turnstiles for 50 personal first-aid kits for our military.

Rubryka reported that the war continues, and organizers of the fundraisers emphasize that every donation is important to approach victory. The message "there are no small donations" is more relevant today than ever.

Volunteers, in turn, are looking for new ways to develop a culture of donations. They are becoming even more creative and inventive in finding new ways to raise funds.

Rubryka gathered ten creative ideas from different regions of Ukraine, which have already become drivers for increasing support for the Armed Forces. Read more in our article: Knight tournaments and charity bike rides: ten creative fundraisers for the benefit of the Ukrainian army.
